Old Stables
Old Stables was built in 1800 as part of the Belluton Grange Estate. With the sale of the Estate in the late 20th century, it was converted into a highly desirable residence with extensive grounds and stabling for three ponies. It still retains many Georgian features including a well and a rare Georgian Horse Wash, utilizing a natural spring in the grounds.
Two hundred years ago, it must have been quite a sight, with a band of returning huntsmen, steeds spattered by Chew Valley red mud, being led by grooms down into the Horse Wash; aristocrats strolling away across the lawns to the Grange, lackeys carrying game to the kitchens !
Garden
SummerHouse Estate, comprising Old Stables, The Granary and Harvest Cottage amid ten acres of grounds is now the home to three generations of the Kittel family. Old Stables is available to let as a luxury four-bedroom holiday cottage.
Ample seating for a party! Such magnificent views that photos will be taken immediately on entering the room. Underfloor heating to keep the room cosy in winter. French doors open onto extensive grounds. Tables for jigsaw puzzles and board games. Large selection of games in servery. Loungers and comfy chairs outside on terrace.
Our Rooms
It comprises two large, en-suite suites, OAK and CHESTNUT, one of which is available with an additional child’s bed, a smaller en-suite double, SILVER BIRCH, and a ground floor room with bunk beds DAMSON. There is a small downstairs washroom under the stairs. In the Garden Room there is a large Knowle sofa which converts into a double bed. Old Stables therefore can accommodate up to eight adults and three children or small adults. Additionally, there are a couple of double futons in the sitting room, suitable for use with sleeping bags.
Kitchen
There is a large family kitchen with French doors opening onto the garden. There is eight-burner Smeg range incorporating two electric ovens and a grill. There is a dishwasher and ample storage cupboards. China and cutlery for 12 are supplied, also a range of cooking implements, pots and pans. An inventory is supplied with the booking confirmation.
The large family table seats six to eight easily with additional seating on stools at the granite topped island. A highchair is available on request.
Laundry Room
There is a laundry room which is shared with THE EAST WING. There is an extra-size Samsung washing machine and separate dryer, also a standard Bosch washing machine and separate dryer. There is an additional dishwasher in case of parties! There are also clothes hanging facilities, an ironing board and steam iron. There are a range of cleaning products along with a Miele hoover. There is a Panasonic bread-maker for that fresh bread smell in the morning! This room also contains extra bedding and towels if needed. Please note that although this room is shared with the East Wing, both entrance doors have their own locks. There is ample hanging space for damp or wet clothes and also lots of storage space for suitcases and outdoor clothes and boots.
